Ha
Ha, fooled you, not done yet! But hey, we're working at it! No
laughing at me, I's just a wee tiny fart as really that mug shot of
me is zoomed up, up and up. Jo's been feeding me since my
grand entrance. As you can see here, she sure did not feed me,
before deciding to show me off to all the fans to see me bones!
Gosh, looks like my eye takes half my face. And you'd think
she would have fed me, before taking my picture! That's O.K.
another couple, three weeks and I'll look like those guys down below
here, looking way, way down as their dehydrated orange slice falling
to the floor. Note what little blue guy with his mouth wide
open. OH, OH he says!!
What a
sook that guy is under Jo's chin. Sunggle bum is what ya call
it. The silver below, now that's what is classed as a pain!!
But a beautiful pain. Jo can do anything with this girl.
Lays down in Jo's hand for a tummy rub, Turns herself inside out to
get down Jo's shirt!
Heard Jo
downstairs today rearranging Sophie and Soloman around.
Seems their window view has plastic on the outside to keep the cold
out, so they were sneaking their way over and onto JO's working
table. Dumping dishes, tramping over anything that got in
their way to sit in front of that window! So means Jo's can't
get at the windows thru all the snow to take the plastic off (not
that Lou would let her anyways!) she moved everything around to
position them where they wanted to be. Those two are going to
be just so excited this weekend. Jo's friend Susan Tuck has
started making boings. Man oh man, are they nice! We are
going to put some pictures here for you, alone and with the Sophie
and Soloman on them for you to see. If you'd like to order
one, Please let JO know and she will place an order for you.
She is going to also list them on her toys page. Jo knows it
will take Soloman all of two seconds to get on it! He has this
swing that JO made him and is hung outside his cage. That is
where he spend half his day now!
Bu now
onto a sadder note. Jo had to make a hard, long, sad decision.
To downsize some of her lovebirds. She will never deprive us
of anything or any less of quality of care. Healthy Bird is
keeping her so busy, she had to downsize some lovebirds.
Brooke and Dhillon and Courtney and Corky left this week for
Ontario. Then Sundance and Cassidy and Homer and Honey got
sold this week as well and they are going to Alberta. Then today
Tim and Tulip got sold and they are going to Dartmouth on Sunday.
Jo has two more pairs, Tyler and Taylor and Pig Pen and Petey to go.
Tyler and Taylor may be going to a lady in Brighton, she is just
waiting to hear from her. Oh Jo is gonna miss these guys.
Every single one of them has their own special features, ways and
habits! This was a hard, hard decision. One thing
JO knows for sure, they all have the very best of homes to go too!
Dear Queen Betty still has been making her weekly nests. Jo
did the rotating and cleaning trick this week, giving everyone fresh
new digs! Betty used to have a lower cage, but when Jo rotated
her, she put her up in a high cage. Well that night she is
doing her rounds and looks up and see this cage completely empty of
birds. Forgetting that she rotated Betty into this cage, she
jumps onto her stool quick, thinking something was wrong with the
two birds! Only to find Queen Betty with a nice new fresh nest
made. Of course, Barney is always the dutafull husband and
right beside her in the corner!
Oh my
God, Folks you just ain't gonna believe it! Issac here, I'm
the dude down playing kissie face with the olive dude. I'm
outta here this weekend to go to my new Mom and Dad's and live with
them. Back to the news, Easter's coming early in this house,
that's for sure.
Ya see
it all started one day last summer when Jo went into a pet store
downtown here. The owner had a 10 week old Hahns macaw and Jo
was hooked. Has not been able to get that little one out of
her head. She started reading, researching these
intelligent little munskins. The more she read, the more she
liked them. Course the number one step was Lou. Remember
we gots two spoiled meyers here that just arrived last summer.
Of course at first he thought she was crazy, but then when learning
they would fit right in, were still a nice medium size bird, not too
big, not too noisy, he was O.K. So those wonderful big birds
in small little bodies are coming to live here at Tiny Rascals.
Sorry,
I's back. JO had to go do some chores. Whole day later
and man oh man she's still going strong. And yes I can
personally vouch for this as she let me and two of my roomies truck
around with her. We just all stayed snugged into her neck
giggling away. Then she'd give us all nice neck scrinches.
I saw a big four unit flight sitting in the middle of the kitchen
waiting for Nibbles' Mom and Dad to come get it. It's going to
their home for all their clan to live in. Jo spent the day
rearranging the Resting Room for the new arrivals. Then I
heard (I had got put back home for supper) Lou come in with Boniata
and Peppe's new cage and they got it all set up. Tomorrow I'm
sure JO will have it full of toys and perches. Now for the new
occupants to arrive! Look out for pictures soon!
Let's
see we did have four lovebirds roomies leave for Toronto on the
weekend. Then we had a linnie leave Sunday, and ya two of
them, a mauve and a sky blue got picked up on the weekend to go to
Saint John to live.
Tula and
Grady, well holey smokes. Seven eggs laid and hatched last
clutch. Now what's the odds of her laying and hatching seven
out of seven AGAIN. She's sure trying. So far 6 out of 7
hatched!! Go figure that one!! And she's one excellent Mom to
boot. She is an imported lady, but her hubbie is a baby that
Jo raised from Mattie and Matt.
Update,
tis now the next morning and while we have good news, we also have a
bit of bad. Number 5 baby that hatched of Tula and Grady, well
they pushed it to the back. Jo scooped him up and put him back
in the pile. After she pulled the biggest guy of course, as 5
is a lot for Mom to feed at once. Well she goes out and checks
about 6 hours later and he's at the back again. Jo says enough
of this and brings him in, warms him up with his buddies in the
brooder and feeds him. About 6 hours later she puts him back
and pulls another one of the bigger guys. All is well, Tula is
feeding him. NOT SO this morning! He's gone!! Jo
can't find him anywhere in the nestbox. So what that tells
Jo's is that maybe Mom and Dad are smarter than she is, and there
had to be a reason they would not feed that little fart. All
the others are 100%. So they are down to five babies and one
left to hatch.
Nadine
and Nigel, they had 5 eggs and so far are doing really well, as they
are now feeding 4 babies. Then we got Tilly and Tidbet who
have hatched their first babe this morning. Lots and lots and
lots of linnie babies hatching. JO has never seen just good
fertility rates! She has to keep her eyes on TIlly and Tidbet
though as they have red eyed babies and for some reason, DO NOT like
the red eyes. They always bury them, much to JO's dismay.
HOpefully this time she will catch them in time, if they hatch a red
eyed baby as we all know that means creamino for them.
See the
little olive guy next door here. That little one is already
talking. Man oh Man, he can have attitude but then in the next
minute he is just the sweetest thing going. In other words,
knows how to get his own way! Step up, Step Up, Step UP,
AH, Ah, Ah, he says! So far this week there have been two
other guys leave as well that have been already talking. One
of the cobalts here is talking and one of the dark green is talking.
That's a pretty good talking average.
Jo got
some boings last week for the Babies Room and Sophie and Soloman.
Soloman really surprised Jo as she figured he'd be on that bouncing
in a heartbeat. Took him about 5 days looking at it, but now
......it's just too funny. He gets going on that thing, having
a great time.
Suppose
your all wondering why there is a kids hockey team sitting right
smack in the middle of our pictures. Jo, being the proud
grandma and all, had to post a picture of Jesse after winning his
hockey tournament! He is the goadie and they were the
happiest, proudest group of little boys going! They are still
doing really well and are now in the championship finals for the
year. Jo & Lou would love to see them win, but are always quick to
point out to him, that he and his team are the BEST, Win OR
Loose.
Later
today we will be posting more pictures, but for now we have to leave
you to get some work done. Later dudes...
Hi ya
all folks, finally Jo let me back to fill you in on the scoop here.
See the little silver whiteface staring right at you, well it's me
here. I do have me a home when I grow up, I'm going to live in
Fredericton with Tikki. Remember he left here in December.
Gots me a boyfriend already (Ha, they don't even know if I am a boy
or a girl and I sure is not telling).
So let
me fill you in. First off I'd like to say I really am kinda
shy and like nothing better than for me and my roomie to ride around
tucked in Jo's nice fluffy hood all day long! I also think we
must have been eating too much soaked seed as I noticed that bowl
never appeared today with the rest of the grub. No fair, we
loves them. Guess Jo figures we have to learn to eat all our
different foods. That's also me and my buddy on the boing.
We got
lots of linnie babies here, thats for sure! Gosh Tula hatched
another 7 our of 7, Nadine hatched 5 out of 5, Tilly and Tidbet
hatched 5 out of 6. We did have a couple heartbreaks and Jo
had to have one little baby put to sleep yesterday. Nadine and
Nigel would leave absolutely nothing on the floor of their nestbox.
Fast as Jo would try and make them a nice little pile, they would
push it all away. As a result they had five babies hatched all
right smack on the bare floor. Two days ago Jo couldn't take
it anymore, especially since she saw one baby, the second oldest,
was becoming spray legged. So she pulled them ALL! No. 2
baby we are very very sad to say, Jo had to take to the Doctor
yesterday as Jo was really, really concerned about her leg.
She had no rotation of the joint at all on the left leg. One
more time Jo leaves the Doc's crying, they put the little one to
sleep. We don't know if it's because the Mom and Dad squshed
them on the bare floor, but the leg and joint was not properly
developed at all and the poor baby would have had no life with one
leg. All the other babies are 100 percent as you can see three
of them in the bowl down here. The oldest one is banded, so
just not have to be kept separated. As you can
also see there are lots in the big brooder.
...............O.K. I'm back. Jo just had a chap in to pick up
some Sandy perches and product, so I had a little nap.
How do
you all like the pictures of Bonita and Peppe. They have
arrived!! They have had their vet check, bloodwork done for
disease testing and are 100%. Jo and Lou, after buying them a
big smancy cage, decided to put them right out in the big flight in
the breeding hut as they want to go to nest. Of course that
just has Jo tickled pink. Lou spent the weekend getting them a
new nestbox all ready, Jo spent the weekend disinfecting the
Breeding Hut and spring cleaning it. They went and got
themselves a camcorder with wireless sensors and now have them all
hooked up to the TV so Jo can sit and watch them to her hearts
content!! Now imagine her joy when she is watching them first
thing this morning feeding each other!! Course she has seen no
movement to the nestbox yet, but that's O.K. They have lots
and lots of time! I suppose the two folks already waiting for
their babies would not be impressed to hear JO say this!!
The
other two spoiled brats here, (yes we mean Sophie and Soloman) are
just going concerns lately. Soloman had gained complete
control of their new boing and was not going to be part of sharing
with his spouse at all! So Jo orders another one to put on the
other side of their playpen. Low and behold he must have got
wind of this, as now is more than willing to share his boing with
Sophie! What a guy! He is just too funny. He
figures they should be glued to Jo as she does her rounds everyday
with the food. Little does he realize he is more hinderance
than help, as the only reason he wants to tag along is to sample
each and every food dish! As if Jo would have the nerve to
give them something better than him!! ...
....back
again. Jo took a little break to make Bonita and Peppe an omlette.
Jo was getting concerned as they would only eat their seed mix and
would not eat their soft foods. Still were not touching their
bean/veggie mix this morning. So Jo just whipped them up an
egg omlette with all the trimmings, feast, supermax, grated carrot,
rolled oats, cinnamon and by golly Jo was not even back in to the
house and they were already eating it!! She is so happy and ya
gotta love this camera!! They just needed to get situated in
their new home, away from all the chatter. Guess we know
what the Easter bunny brought JO this year!
Now we
have to run again as Jo has to get on upstairs and feed those baby
linnies. Gosh we got a little cobalt fellow here, that is
always first in line, so fast that the other day, there he
went, head first into the cup!! Oh what a mess. Did not
brother him a bit and was in no way, shape or form gonna slow down
his getting dinner!
Going to
be awful interesting to see what's left in Bonita's and Peppe's
dish, as my gosh they are still in it eating 10 minutes later!
