NOVEMBER 2003 JOURNAL

Just when you thought we would never be back, here we are!  Now I knows your not all going to believe us, but remember we are only relaying messages from Jo.  Says she was working on Lou's $@#)(#$*#)( desktop computer (that's not nice language by the way!) gets all the gossip told, then the systems decides to take a break and SHUTS DOWN and Jo has not saved.  Man was she .  So here we are AGAIN, four days later.  And man oh boys do we have news for you now!

O.K. so you see all the pictures next door here.  Yep, they all got took up in Toronto at the convention Jo and Lou went to for her new company Healthy Bird.   Some nice birds huh. How do you like Lou with the    .  Now that's a handsome couple.  Jo thinks that bird is just the most remarkable bird, it's beauty and splendor,  it's magnifying color and body.  They  so tall and proud and always smiling.  This fellow is the of the December issue of Bird Talk.  When you read all about him and his family, you realize why there are so very few of them and why they are so special.

Then the amazons.  Jo and Lou both love those fellows.  Good thing there is not more hours in a day!   The hawkhead, another truly wonderful bird.  Jo has read some articles that say this species can be a little difficult to handle, but she has only ever met two and they were both so friendly with all strangers who wanted to handle them.  The hawkhead was just too funny to watch playing with his keys and toys.

Note the picture of the two macaws.  That is all hand stitched.   These folks had numerous pictures there and they were all pieces of art!  Just beautiful.  Jo used to cross stitch before we took over her time, so she knows only too well the work into a piece such as this.  This is even finer thread than Jo used.  Lou might remember the type of needlework it's called, but course he's not here right now for Jo to ask.

So all in all, attendance was down this year at the convention due to a lack over of management just a short month before the event, but Jo was happy with the outcome for her and the Healthy Bird.

But now for the real news!   Jo's and us are gonna be in the news!  The Telegraph Journal that is sold in New Brunswick, called and asked if they could do a story on the Healthy Bird.  Well Jo was a bit confused how they found out so soon as asked if they meant Tiny Rascals.  No they said, Why ? Do you have birds as well?  Jo proceeds to tell him all about us.  He, the newspaper man, was right in his glory. This was the day before Jo was to leave for Toronto.  Sure enough, soon as she got back, he called and came last Saturday to do a story on Tiny Rascals and Healthy Bird.  Took lots of pictures of the two silver lovebird baby and the linnies all over Jo.  Jo nervous now to see what's going to come out to be read.

So the same time the reporter man was here, in comes Miss Sabreena, Connor, his Dad and Mom, Kelley.  They  are the family that of got Stitch and Sauce, two lovebirds from here last year.  The got their first baby and a beautiful seagreen pied to boot.  Kelley and Miss Sabreena are going to handfeed the baby, so came to get some lessons and food.

Then we had Jessica and Lucas come to play at the same time.  Jo's grandson was here with a friend of his, so the poor reporter man probably left scratching his head!  Really HE was an hour and a half late, cause Jo had it all planned for the rest of the company not to show up till he left.  But all it all, a very great day was had by everyone.

O.K.now we've got all that gossip out of the way, lets get it on with OUR news.  Gosh, Jo never acknowledged who was talking yet.  Me, here the silver sitting under the ha macaw.  I am one of those silver (edged dilute) whiteface of Brooke and Dhillon's and beautiful I  might add.  I see there's another one like me, in the bottom apt.  Also I see a cinnamon, a colbalt and a double factor violet in that clutch.  They are four of Sundance and Cassidy's I'm told.  Jodie and Jesse, they had five eggs and now have five beautiful babies... all with plum eyes which means the whole clutch is either silvers or cinnamons.  Jo is hoping for a throw in of  pied as well.  Jodie is a pied/silver, just beautiful.  More pied's Jo is hoping for is of the three that Pig Pen and Petey have hatched.  Course Pig Pen got ahead of herself again and peeled two.  Really she peeled four, but Jo was able to assist and save two of them.  The third babe got to hatch all my himself.  We also got Tyler and Taylor with two week old babies and low and behold Honey and Homer have hatched two babies, back to back and their very first clutch ever.  They still have four eggs to go, so Jo's keeping a careful eye to make sure they do good.

Cuddles and Stub, they are sitting on 6 eggs that should be due to start hatching soon I would think.

O.K. don't give up on us yet!  What a time this month to get you's a Journal huh!  Whilst Jo and Lou were in Toronto,  Peter and Kathy (they have a whooping nice reference on our References page - just loved their new babies) came to the convention just to meet Jo and Lou and get some new Healthy Bird supplies.  (least that's what they told them!)  Must  have been true though as they took Jo and Lou out to supper that night and treated them to a really, really nice supper.  Then they all went for coffee and continued their wonderful visit to chat even more about us.  Anyways Kathy emails Jo tonight asking her "What's up .........Where's the Journal?"

Story is folks, her in getting their computer's all geared up for high speed internet and their very own separate email address for each of their computers, for some reason her website was not letting her in.  She emailed the server last night and just now figures she'll try for the heck of it, to see if she could get in.  Sure enough, she can get in!  Man oh Man.  Now listen up, if you got questions for Jo ...email her at healthybird@lovebirds.ca or tinyrascals@lovebirds.ca .  Now if you want get complicated and talk about genetics, cages, anything really taxing the brain, email Lou at rascals@nb.sympatico.ca

Jo has to let seven linnie babies go this week.  BOO HOO.  Already their new Mom's have called saying they are just in love!  Off to Saskatoon went Skylar and Sky, the little green gem next door eating the pencil, went to his/her new home in Ottawa.  They don't know what the name will be jet.  They are thinking awful hard on Nick or Nicky as can stand for a boy or a girl.  Jo thought that was just great as the  name matches their little spoiled dog's handle!  One of the little babies in the brooder, just turning three weeks old, his new Dad called today to tell Jo that they had already named the little one ... Bender.  SO cute.

Stay tuned Jo's computer cooperates tomorrow, she gonna get some real nice baby pictures for you.

Well as you can see there are a few more baby pictures here.  How about the linnie sky blue linnie.  Jo thinks that picture adorable.  That little one is going all the way to NFLD.

Remember we were telling you about the little one going to Ottawa.  Well a name has been decided on ............no not Nickey............. it's gonna be Tookie.  That's Hebrew for parakeet.  Jo thought that just too cute as she sent two to Saskatoon (Sky and Skylar) last Monday and while the lady in ottawa did not know this, they already have one called Tookie!  So now what does Jo go and do, but name her little sweetheart that she has held back for herself that had no name as of yet, Tookie and Toots!  Now we have all kinds of Tookie's over the country.

We should also let you in on another little secret.  From now till the end of December Jo is going to give everyone a special price on those lovebird babies.  Same thing as she did last year.  Feel free to give her a call (506-532-3757) or email her at tinyrascals@lovebirds.ca and she'll be more than happy to give you details.

We have lots and lots of babies, but will be another week before we can show you some real nice pictures.  Gonna be some beauty cinnamon whiteface pieds, maybe some silver whiteface pieds, maybe more silvers, double factor violets, single factor violets, seagreen pieds, you name it.

The four babies featured here so far, are just going concerns.  They just got their first clipping yesterday.  They are just so so friendly.  Course Jo finds all Sundance and Cassity's babies are good natured.  Jo always says, these babies are just like you humans.  They all have their own individual personalities.  Some Jo really has to work with and others just come out being so adorable.  These guys just came out being so adorable!

Dear Queen Betty is  STILL building.  What a shame, but she's happy.  She builds a nest weekly and Jo destroys when cleaning house for her.  Poor lady, just does not have it in her anymore.  She did lay one egg a couple weeks ago, but she broke it which did not matter much as it was very very thin shelled and empty anyways.  Have no fear these guys all get their calcium every week.
