Beeper caught with the cranberry!

Beeper with his carrot.  No doubt he is the best eater!

Well now I wonder if your gonna be able to tell we love our Jolly Ball Bird Hut!!  First off we have Beeper. We're not going to tell you what we think this picture looks like!  Never take a picture of a bird straight on!

Then we have Kit

Kit coming thru!

Kit CAUGHT! Should tell you we think poor Kit is a bit confused.  Jo is sure she heard him say "Beeper" today when she told him to step up!

Miss No Name on the way out and we're not quite sure who, trying to push his way in.

Kit quarding the side door

Miss No Name (aka Muffin, aka Spidie woman, aka Miss No Name!!)

Trying to remodel the entrance!

Beeper, knows how to pose that boy!

What a beautiful time of year.  Driving from Montreal and Ottawa for the shows we had a chance to view a lot of foliage.  Coming  thru the mountainous areas is just breathtaking.  Such a shame a month from now, they will remain bare for the next six months and Old Man Winter will be here.

So we must apologize to all you folks and especiallly folks that have all these babies reserved.  Never mind being extra busy getting ready for and attending these shows, we are also in the process of changing both our web site hosts, so have not been able to do any updates.   Truth be known we are doing this edition of the Journal on our laptop on our drive to Ottawa, sure hoping when we return home all the host work will be done and we can post it.

So our baby bird  sitters have been really, really good to us and send us nightly updates with pictures.  Amazing world of wireless laptops, we can get internet access most anywhere.  Jo sure misses them.  The red belly's are fully fledged and will be ready for their first wing clipping any time.  Not sure if you can see in the pictures, we have Number One, Beeper, a nice big chubby boy.  Then we have who we still call Miss Muffin as her Mom has not found just the right name yet.  Beeper being good and rosey red, Miss Muffin, being a nice light grey.  Then we have Kit, a nice "light" rosey red belly with just a glow of red tinging the forehead.  Now we are "assuming" Kit to be a male as well, who will only take on his true red glow when he matures, or we are trying to decide if we should not play the "assume" game and get Kit sexed.  Guess we should ask the new Mom huh!

We have a not so nice picture here of our little linnie clan.  Jo's life was not off kilter enough this month, they went and bought a new digital camera. Which of course has so many bells and whistles that you need a course to work it!!   Hence some blurred pictures here.  Sorry folks.  They are all spoken for, matter of fact the little one going to Montreal, his new parents came to meet Jo at the show.

Then we must not forget our hahn's update.  Shazza, Higgins, and Bella have all departed for their new homes. Man oh man, are they nice birds!! Higgins and Bella are already talking.  I'd probably be pretty comfortable in saying Hahns get along well with the Poicephalus family.  Higgins went to live with JoJo, a red belly.  Right away they were an instant hit. Shazza arrived at his new home on the same plane as Azibo,a senegal. Now while it was not love at first site, they are now buddies in just two short weeks.  We will be posting pictures.   If you go to our Hahns Nursery Page, you will see pictures of them in their new homes with notes from their new parents.  Jo just loves the one of Shazza on Lexie's head. Too cute!  Next week we have to get the two younger hahns babies sexed.  One is going to Toronto and the other snuggle bug is the only baby we have not reserved.  Lots of time yet.  UPDATE - if sexing comes back with a boy, all hahns are SOLD.   These guys are just as good as gold.  Never finched, put up a fuss, just cuddles in Jo's hands, taking it all in stride having blood taken for testing.   Did we tell you that HIggins and Bella are already jabbering up a storm.

Our Tex and Sasha, orange belly senegals are sitting on eggs, which very much pleases Jo.  She could not imagine not having some "big" babies to feed n spoil!!  We also have Jo and Zita sitting on eggs as well which should be hatching same time as Tex's.

Back in a bit, we have loads more pictures to add here for you.

This would be Beeper, keeping an eye on things!!

You can see him and his siblings sitting patiently waiting for their supper down yonder on the picture side.  They got their first wing trim yesterday and are not too impressed!  They were trimmed back the first four feathers, leaving them longer than we left the hahns, yet they have yet to master the art of gliding around.  Gosh, the hahns know how to fly around the house downstairs and find Jo no matter where she is with only the first four clipped.  Another day or so and the RB's should master the skill.

Higgins and his new RB buddy JoJo might have hit it off marvelously at his new home, but man these two hahns here don't want these RB's in their sight!!  Jo thinks it's nothing short of sheer jealously and not wanting to share Jo.  Needless to say they are not out to play together!!  Hahns are velcro babies when they are out!  RB's might like to travel around with you, but they love their independence.  I don't think we told you about the morning after Jo got home from the Montreal show.  What a pleasant surprise to be awokened  by Chummy out in the Bird Room saying "I'm a good boy"!!  Normally his line is "What's ya doing"!

While at the Ottawa show we stay with good friends that Louis grew up with.  They came to visit with us at the show and posed for a photo.

Now this afternoon we must get some linnie pictures for the folks waiting on their new baby linnies.  So much to do to get back to normal after attending these shows. This is when Jo wishes she could call in the "part time"!!!  Hopefully, if all goes well,  next week we will have have our Healthy Bird site revamped and the shopping cart added for your convenience and updated with toys and products.  Fruit flies........ probably the biggest pests this time of year for being such small little guys!  Products will be here next Friday to rid yourselves and your bird rooms of those pesty bugs!

Higgins and below we have Higgins again with JoJo

Beeper, Miss N.N. and Kit

Miss No Name's turn for cranberry.

Beeper and Kit sharing a piece of cauliflower.  Kit, he's no fool that guy! He is wonderful at letting whoever is close by, hold the grub, and him,  he just picks at away as they hold it for him!  As you can see above he is scabbing from Miss N.N.

What would be your first clue that we LOVES these fresh beets Jo cooked up for us.  As you can see, Miss NN here even had it on her shoulder!

Hi Joanne I just wanted to email you to tell you that your violet male that i bought from you won best adult lovebird in the show last weekend.

He almost took best hookbill but was beaten by a alexandrine that was in excellent condition. steve elich

.......note we received from one of our long time customer and friends..............

And these my friends, are our newest lovebird babies. Originally three were going to one family, but due to personal setbacks,  they are not ready for them at this time.  So folks, two are still available!

It will be full house in our brooders this week, as we also have linnie babies hatching.  So far two have hatched, (those two are reserved),with three more to potentially hatch!

Next door here, under Beeper, we have pictures of our three sennie babies.   Beeper thinks he is a pretty funny boy.  Jo sits down at the brooder table to feed these wee babies.  Who is right over prancing around the table, scrounging food, none other than Beeper!  Then you can see Kit above here, keeping tabs on Jo's feeding them, whist sitting on top of scale.

Keep tabs on them in their very own Senegal Baby Album Jo has started on them.    This is the youngest, Paddy as Jo calls him/her.
