Well
Folks we done did it again!! Went and erased September's Journal
Entry. Jo sends her most sincere apologies! Least we were
able to put all the pictures back for you, but the story, well that's
all gone! Poor Expo, his new Mom just loved his turn at telling
the gossip ..all gone. So Sorry. For those of you that don't
know Expo is the little double dark factor violet sitting on the
newspaper under the September Pictures. He's gone all the way to
Comox to live.
So you see me, the slate whiteface sitting up nice and proud under the October pictures. Some kinda handsome don't you think. It's me talkin here and do I have news for you Lets start with all the silver guys and gals in the September pictures. Well they are all gone to their new homes now. Don't know if we told you or not about the little violet whiteface that went to a lady in NFLD last month. Well she loved that baby so much, that she called up last Friday and wanted another baby, (a little silver baby boy no less!) sent to her the very next day! Now she's got double trouble! Then the last little silver baby went to his new home on Monday. He got delivered by Lou and even got one of our nice big homes Lou makes to live in. But have no fear, we have two more silver whiteface babies now growing up! As you can see we have more linnie babies and oh are there new parents waiting ever so anxiously for them to grow up! We have such a demand for those gems Jo can hardly wait to get her new adults she has coming. Seven coming in all. If all goes well we have three more clutches of which two should start hatching this week. One clutch is first time parents, so hard to tell what will happen there. Jo's got her fingers crossed. Sky the little cobalt girl Jo has here waiting for her new partner just gets more spoiled every day. Well I shouldn't say spoiled as Jo really does not spend any more time with her than the rest of the babies, but she is just an absolute doll. She just melts in Jo's hand and cuddles. Lays with her belly up for Jo to tickle her or lays in the palm of Jo's hand. She's got this thing, she just loves being in the palm of the hand. I'm sure she'd spend all day there being carried around. Or her next favorite pastime is playing with the back of Jo's glasses behind her ears. She gets mad and pushes and pokes and goes all crazy playing with them. So have you all been to the front page of our website today. If so then you have seen that Jo is now going to be taking over the Canadian Distributorship for the Healthy Bird Products. She is real excited bout that. Those are all the supplements that we get here. We'll be writing a lot more about that later, but for now Jo is just concerned about getting everything set up and in place as she has to attend the Symposium in Toronto next month to set up a booth for these products. It will be next month before we get the website changed over, but it is still up and running at www.healthybird.net. All questions and/or orders should be directed to us here at healthybird@lovebirds.ca or 506-532-3757. So having said all this we might have to apologize in advance if we get a little slack with the Journal this month. Jo has held back her breeding program a bit in anticipation of this, but we still have lots of babies and adults that need their fair share of attention, no matter what they say! We promise to make up for it next month with all the gossip that we might forget to give you this month! Hi ya all. Little Silver Whiteface Beauty here. Fifth picture down on the October side, case your wondering. Heard today that I am going to my new home tomorrow, so guessed I'd better get my two cents in now! One piece of exciting news for Jo this past week is Sophie finally accepting a piece of food directly from Jo's hand. She's always done her step ups, but is very very timid and she's no Soloman for sure! Him, he just hops right on whenever Jo walks by. Jo went and gave Soloman an unsalted pistachio nut. Well I think that was just a little bit too much for Sophie to handle, him getting a pistachio and not her! Jo, as usual, passed Sophie one and much to her surprise and utter delight Sophie took it. Guess she now realizes Hey that wasn't so bad, no one hurt me, as now she takes food no problem since. Slowly but surely Jo will have her coming around. Let's see what else, I see Jo has to do some serious picture taking to do some updating here next week. It is the month of the ghosts, gobblins and spiders and she is having a picture sent to her of the famous spoiled that should be on a poster. It is just awesome!! Now isn't that just some kinda mean, she said I'm not allowed to tell you of who yet, it's gonna be a big surprise. The little linnies are growing fast and furious and are just darlings! They are all doing their step ups and just come running fast as their little feet will carry them, when Jo opens the front door. We have a light green, a jade green, a slate (mauve) and four cobalts. Then we got a new babe just hatched yesterday still with his Mom and we got Lucy and Linus sitting on a nestfull. Sundance and Cassidy have four new babies, with one being a nice plum eyed ball of white fluff, which could mean a cinnamon, a silver or a combination of both! Then we have three black eyes, which with them normally means either single or double factor violets. But surprises as Brooke and Dhillon just proved happen all the time, so you never know! Jo's getting the Healthy Bird well under control and should have all her inventory within the next week or so. Some is on it's way now. Did she tell you the Bird Care Company's website address. Well here it is www.BirdcareCo.com. Jo can stock most anything you wish that is on that site. Next month you may see a lot of new items added to the Healthy Bird site as Jo gets things set up and under control. Little Sky is still waiting to see who her new hubbie is going to be. I'm telling ya, if anyone wanted a pocket baby, this would be her. She is nothing short of an absolute sweetheart. But she has this thing about loving to sit cupped in the palm of Jo's hand. Makes it a little hard to carry her around and get your chores done with one hand! Lots of time she sits in Jo's lap and runs over the top of her laptop as she is answering her emails, or she will snuggle down the side of Jo's chair. (please be careful as this little one snuggles right in and you could forget she's there if you had to get up in a hurry!) O.K. Jo says she has to get on up and feed two little lovies. HALLOWWEENN NIGHT!!!!! but we gots no fears here. Being on a nice quiet road and all, we have no kids come down here to scare us at all. Same old nice quiet evening. Gosh, it's Soloman finally getting a turn here, and it's been so long I can't remember what gossip's been told and what hasen't! That's bad. But Jo, well between everyone of us and the Healthy Bird getting set up is keeping her pretty busy. She's already up and running, taking /sending orders, setting up books, getting in product, etc. Then next week she's going to the Parrot Convention in Toronto and setting up a booth for the Healthy Bird products. She's real nervous about going to Toronto and leaving us all with the baby sitter for 4 days. She's never left home for that long before! But she's excited to be attending the Parrot Convention you can be sure. Soon as she gets back and we have all the gossip, we'll be sure and let you know. Now do you want to hear my story. I showed Jo how I can run today. Jo come out in our Resting Room this morning for a visit and I literally took off and RAN across the top of my playpen to get to the other side to make my jump to her shoulder. She laughed. Guess she thought I missed her! Sophie, she gets better, slowly, ever so slowly, but she gets bigger and braver every day. She'll accept most anything from Jo now and looks at Jo a lot more securely now. Sundance and Cassity, they have four babies upstairs in the brooder now. Two of them are cinnamon and maybe every silver, Jo's not sure yet. They are just starting to feather in. Then sharing quarters with them in the brooder are two of Rosey and Matt's babies. Member Matt, he used to be with Mattie but kept kicking her out of the nest. So Jo put him in with a spare female for short term. Well what does he go and do, but do the Hanky Panky with her. They now are the proud parents of two babies in the brooder. Matt was just as nice as could be to her the whole time. let her sit on the eggs. Speaking of eggs, Jo could not believe how big her eggs were. Twice the size of most linnie eggs. The babies were born, looking like 2 day olds! And good parents. Gosh, Jo had to band them at 9 days old. Jo figures maybe he just did not like that Mattie was a yellow bird. She has another green male the same way, did not like for some strange reason yellow or cream females. Put him with a blue female and they are just as loving as can be. All the other linnie babies, 3 cobalts, 1 light green, 1 dark green and 1 slate, well they are all just going concerns! 6 12/-7 weeks old and Jo has to use her trap door on the side to get them in and out! Jo opens the big front doors and that's it.....they are out and they ARE NOT going back in, under any circumstances, on their own free will! Jo sneaks them back in, one by one thru the trap door. Lucy and Linus so far have 2 babies hatched. Three really, but two hatched back to back two days ago. Third one hatched this morning but Jo found him under the other two babies, not been fed and had died. It's amazing how 2 day old babies can grow so fast. So now she's keeping a good close eye.
