Where the heck am I? I know I can't open my eyes yet.
I just got out of that big shell not too long ago and then I remember
laying in this nice soft bed of what seemed like shredded paper. But
I also remember I was not being fed and didn't get any food. I think
that's when JO stepped in and took me upstairs into the Babies Room and
gave me some nice warm grub and a nice warm bed. She was feeding me
very 45 minutes for the first day and man oh man, she said it was hard and
very time consuming. I am so very, very, very tiny that Jo has to
drop it into the side of my mouth and let me suck it in sort of. I
don't take very much at each feeding. She is keeping me nice and
toasty at 31 degrees C. |
 |
36 hours old
And I made it thru the night and Jo's one happy camper. Says
still have a ways to go before I'm out of the woods yet though.
She's feeding me every 1 1/2 hours now. Seems to JO like I have not
growed one little bit. She is still pretty nervous for
me. Has to be extremely careful in feeding me, temperature of
my brooder, outside air temperature in the room when she takes me out to
feed me. My little toes are so tiny they don't even resemble toes
yet! |
 |
60 hours old
I may be tiny, but holy gosh Jo says I have one mighty cry. Says
she opens the Babies Room door and she can hear me right away. Jo
also has to apologize for some of these pictures as up to day nine of my
life they could be deceiving. See in this one I look pretty big huh,
but then in the next one I look smaller. That's cause this one has
been zoomed in on three times. Same as my 7 day, 8 and 9 day
pictures. |
 |
84 hours old
And I am up to 2 1/2 hours between feedings. Jo is really holding
hope for me now. It's getting much easier to feed me as now I will
open my mouth for her and just gobble that formula right down. |
 |
and now we go to days! I am 7 days old and don't you
dare say I'm not just the cutest thing you have ever seen or you will hurt
my feelings! My toes are finally looking like little toes, I have
got one great set of lungs on me. I don't shut up the whole time Jo
is feeding me. I am up to three hours between feedings now and
finally looking like I am putting on some weight. See the big bulge
just under my chin. That's what is called my crop and as you can
see, it is nice and full. That's one sure fired way to tell if I am hungry, if that is empty. My big black eyes tell you that I am not
going to be a creamino or a lutino either. With my parentage, I
could either be a mauve, cobalt or a sky blue. |
 |
8 days old
This picture has been zoomed in on as well. Jo
wanted you to see how my feathering is starting. Right now I still
have a lot of white fluff still all over me, but you can see the dark
spots, especially in this picture on my head, where the feathering is
going to start. Notice how my wings are getting darker as
well. See how my crop is nice and full in this picture as
well. Just after supper.
|
 |

Notice in this picture my crop is only half full, not nice and
round. That does not mean it's time to feed me yet, about 1/2 hour
from now, Jo tells me is supper time.

0 days old - and today was the big day guys!! I now
sport this beautiful red band
no. on my right
foot. Can you see it, I sort of got it hiding under my wing.
Jo's feelin real bad as she is still waiting for her TRA co1ded bands to
come for us. I don't mind. My new Mom I'm sure is going to
remember where I came from.
So you can see I may have started off small, but I'm only 1o days and
that band had to be put on, see how fast my toes growed! By the way,
Jo uses size M bands for us, cause your interested. While it is good
to make sure our bands are not too tight, it is also better not to have
them too big. Jo lost one of her beloved linnie Mom's cause
her band was so big around and she got it caught in a toy. Jo was
out for two hours and came home to find poor Edith gone.

12 days old and I
am trying ever so hard to open my eyes. Almost there. See that
little indent on the side of my face here, well that is my ear. Jo
says to please forgive the pictures one more time, makes a big
difference in the lighting on these cameras I guess. Gees you'd
think Jo would have it right by now! |
 |

And my eyes are OPEN!
maybe only half in this picture, but thats only cause they have these
flashes from that camera going off in my eyes. Look at Jo's
....sooooooo big, but hey I'm getting there! Still can't tell my my colors
are going to be yet though.
Jo calls these our "smiley"
pictures. Says we look like we are smiling at her. (maybe we
are!)

Can you tell Jesse loves us
linnies! He has one as Jo has mentioned numerous times, but first
thing he wants to do every time he comes to MeMere's House is go see the
baby linnies. He's already hitting Jo up for a partner for his
Cuddles. Yes I got my eyes wide open now, I squeak and squeak and squeak
and Jo is just so proud of me. I'm practicing fluttering my
little wings already.

And some kinda handsome I
might add! |

Great news to report Jo
says. Before breakfast this morning I got my weigh in and tipped the
scales at 38 grams. Gets better...... better getting my supper
tonight I weighed in at 40 grams! Let's see what tomorrow
brings.
Did Jo ever tell you yet
what I am eating? It's not bad really. Tropican hand feeding
formula, which contains all vitamins, mineral, amino acids and other
nutrients us guys need. Jo supplements the hand feeding formula
with Formula
Plus. Now you want to hear what my schedules like
now. I get breakfast at 6, then I get a snack at 8 or so, then I get
dinner at half past noon, I get supper, bedtime snacks (another meal
really) at 11.
Me and that little masked
fellow are sharing a brooder. Our temp is down to about 27 C.
We got this little wooly stuffed crab that we snuggle together
beside.

See me here with my roomie.
He's a violet masked and I just love being able to snuggle with him.
Jo still can't tell what mutation I am going to be but I can tell you this
morning before breakfast, I weighed in at a whooping 40
grams. |

days old.
Can you make me out
here? Jo has us out of the brooder laying on a nice soft cloth with
our wooly crab to tuck under while she is cleaning our brooder. My
roomie there, he's got his head stuck right under our snuggly, while I
have my head resting on his back. I didn't get my weigh in first
thing this morning, but before supper I weighed in at 48. Let's see
what tomorrow morning brings.

Oh but I am
good. Before breakfast this morning, got put on those scales
and tipped again at 48. Didn't even get to have my snack at 8 this
morning. Guess I'm down to 4 square meals a day and maybe a little
snack. I am really active now and I heard Jo saying
tomorrow I am going to loose my roomie. Why ......cause I'm all over
him.....I may be shorter than he is, but I can stretch these little legs
pretty high, almost high enough to get right in his face to squeak at
him! I think I may be squeaking a little too much though as now he's
ignoring me. He's real good, he has not tried to nip me (or Jo
would've had him out of here Pronto) or push me around, almost like he
tolerates me cause he has too .... lets me snuggle up to him at
night. I think he just figures he is more mature than me, But
Jo can tell he's had enough of me being so active. |

Guess I had better petter off soon. That's pretty much the size I'm
gonna be when I'm all growed up. I'm really startin to feather in
now and Jo can tell I'm going to be a beautiful green. Today me and
my buddy Ida I'm still with him) got moved to an apartment, lower level
with a nice big cuddle to sleep and cuddle under. Our Babies Room
is kept nice and warm. Jo's got bits of cereals, egg food, millet,
and a very shallow dish of water on the floor for us. Me, I poked at
it a bit, but not much. I'm still getting four square meals a day
from Jo.

a whooping 74 grams. But now I guess I have to tell you that I
got my weigh in tonight AFTER supper.
|

68 grams BEFORE breakfast
this morning, which is served up at 6:30 now. I just had me supper
and as you can see Jo has not done a good job wiping my face for me
yet. I expect another four or five days and Jo will be
taking most of my dinner from me. She's got all kinds of foods in
here with us now, CeDe, soaked seeds, veggies, cereals, seeds, millet,
dish of water. Far as Jo knows so far, I have not touched any.
Any day now I should be pickin at it. Probably I would be by now if
I didn't have such a shy roomie. We pretty much follow each others
example and him there, he's not pickin at the food too much yet
either. (even though he should be Jo says)
|
 |
Day 27 - 68 grams and I just discovered I have this nice ladder in my
home. Us linnies love climbing ladders.
|
 |
Day 33 - 64 grams, and as you can see I am getting around all on my own
now. Yesterday I even displayed to Jo that I have a voice!
Jo just made me this nice round perch for me yesterday and I sure likes
it. I lost my dinner yesterday as well for the first time. Oh,
what a long day!! But that's O.k. cause the only reason Jo took it
away from me is that I am now eating my soaked seed, I'm startin to get my
veggies, I'm eating my seeds and my eggfood. Now that I am down to two
feedings a day with a nightly snack from Jo I should start slimming down in
size. As you can see I am fully feathered in now. Jo has already
started working with me to get me to do my step ups.
|
 |
Day 34 - Oh ya we do have a
picture for you and Jo even has it all ready, but Lou did some updates on
his system, which is the system Jo uses to do her pictures for you
folks. Jo tries to connect to the net today to download my pictures
for you and NO CAN DO. In other words you have to wait till Lou gets
back from Fredericton and fixes the computer!! But I am really really
growin up, I am super super friendly, I did my very first step up today on
command from Jo and I have got a start on the nibbling stage as Jo calls
it. So the AH AH AH started today, whatever the heck that means!!
|
 |
Day 36 - And it's just too bad Jo
could not have wiped my face before taking my picture!! As you can see my
buddy is still with me, but Jo says I am doing much better than him.
He's so shy and always hides behind me.
|
 |
So
I got two pictures took today. Jo just could not resist putting the
big picture of me here, even if it did not turn out Lou took one look
at it and dubbed me Big Bird off Sesame Street!! It's Day 38
and as you can see I still have full flight. Don't matter to me
none. I did take my first spin around the room today, but soon came
right back to Jo and stayed with her. I now eating my soaked seed mixed with
CeDe, I am now eating my veggies and all that seed mixture that Jo makes
with the Tropimix, Seeds, hemp, etc.etc. Jo still gives me two square
meals a day with a snack though.
|
 |
Day and
as you can see I'm all growed up now. Jo says I'm the bestest little
girl (she thinks) she has ever seen. The other day there my EX. roomie took
a bit at my big toe. Jo noticed I was not wrapping my toe solid round
her finger or on my perches. She takes a good look, and I'm not
tellin, but she thins the little masked took a bit at me. This is
where the good girl parts come in first ..... she takes my foot and soaks it
every morning and every night in proxodie to make sure I don't get no
fection or anything and to ensure it heals nice. Then she has to take
and soak my foot in a warm cloth as she has to make sure all the peroxide is
gone so I don't try and lick it or something. Do I put up a
fuss, no way sire. Now my foot's all better, I'm good as new and the
little masked gots his own little condo next door to me.
