MERRY CHRISTMAS TO JOANNE AND LOUIS

T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the nest,
Not a Cockatiel was stirring they all seemed at rest.
The millet was hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that old Hank wouldn't pick it all bare;

The Lovebirds were nestled all snug in their cage
While visions of kale and chilli peppers did rage;
And Mama Chi Cha in the corner and Sage on the perch
Had just settled down from a pop corn search,

When out on the lawn there rose such a clatter,
Billy Elliot let out a shriek and Simon fell off his ladder.
Away to the window they flew like a flash,
Bumped their beaks on a toy and through their water did splash.

The moon was so bright and was hung high in the sky
The boys were amazed and to it's beauty did sigh,
When what to their wondering eyes should appear,
But a big shiny red Jeep all loaded with gear.

With a little old driver, not so lively or quick,
They knew in a moment, St. Nick must be sick.
More rapid than Linnies his helpers they came
And he whistled and pleaded and called them by name;

"Now Betty! now Barney! Now, Sydney and Slick!
We must give out these presents and we must do it quick.
To the top of the cage, be careful don't fall
Joanne won't forgive me, if you have to... just crawl".

So like good Christmas Elves they started to fly
A voice screamed with panic, "don't go so high"!
They flapped and they flapped they literally flew,
With a Jeep full of toys and old Louis too.

And then in a twinkling, they heard the telephone ring
But Ray and Charlotte were sleeping and didn't hear a thing.
They had just about given up that the man would get in
When they heard a familiar chirp, it was good ol' Pigpen!

She was dressed all in feathers from her head to her feet
She was in much disarray, but then she has never been neat
A bundle of goodies she dragged with her beak
She looked weary and tired and a rest she did seek.

Her eyes scanned the bird room, she thought "it's not bad"
The cages could be better if made by HER Dad,
Then behind her she heard a grunting and growl
There stood Louis with a terrible scowl.

The stump of a smoke he held tight in his teeth,
He picked the holly from his hair as he thought "damn wreath"!
He had mustard on his face, and a pizza stain on his belly
He had just returned from a trip to the deli.

He was slim for his age a right jolly old elf
 He'd be watching hockey, if Santa had done this himself
But Joanne said "it's Christmas and the birds need their treats"
Louis you must go to Chester with Eggfood...NO SWEETS!

He spoke not a word, but flashed a look at the boys
He filled all the food cups and hung up some toys
Then laying a finger aside of his chin
He said "Where did I put those keys, I've lost them again"!

He ran to the Jeep, then called to the flock
"It's a long way to Tiny Rascals...get in and don't squawk"
But we heard him exclaim as they sped out of sight
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL...WHO POOPED ON THE LIGHT?
Merry Christmas to you both, with many thanks for the laughter and joy you have shared with us over the past year.

Charlotte and Ray

P.S. Merry Christmas Jesse, give your sweet little Cuddles a Christmas hug from us!
